The client was operating from managing HR data through a series of excel based systems and spreadsheets that was cumbersome and prone to errors. They also had challenges in creating meaningful board level reports that were based on time reporting. They were looking to automate HR function across their three locations UAE (Abu Dhabi & Dubai), India (Chennai & Bangalore) and Singapore covering all aspects of employee life cycle with Sage 300 People. All modules were included i.e. payroll, employee database, job analysis, performance management, leave and absences offboarding and separation and it was part of a larger ERP set-up. I was hired as a Functional Consultant to manage the HR project delivery and support the back-end development team. I scheduled a series of consulting sessions to create a detailed scope of work for each location and agree on principles on which the system would be developed.
As a result of the management buy-out, an ERP system was needed for the new entity, hence the migrations from SAP to Oracle. As part of the HR and Middle East Transition Team, I was assigned to the HR System transition team to oversee and coordinate the Middle East Region Data migration. This included data gathering and mapping from legacy system to develop data tables for the new system. The entire transition was accelerated, and we started the Train the Trainer Program within six months from project initiation. The HR migration was global with almost 20 locations and jurisdictions to consider with a total headcount of 10,000 employees. I was also part of the Core Trainers initially trained to train other Super Users and end users across Middle East, Europe and Asia.
The Company was looking at a structured approach to increase the talent pool with independent consultants. I was hired to manage the recruitment of reliable and competent tech team with qualifications, knowledge, and proven experience. The project included developing job descriptions, job post and sourcing of consultants for each role. To aid with the recruitment process, I was responsible to create and administer role specific competency assessments to shortlist 3 to 5 consultants per role.
As part of consulting scope, I was responsible to source and recommend a fit for purpose HRMS system for a bank with two branches in UAE and more 100 employees. This involved audit of the current system as well as requirements gathering exercise to understand key HR processes to be automated. I approached various local and international HRMS software vendors based on the assessment of their response to the RFP. I also created a selection committee to get an early buy-in from key stakeholders. We complete the deliverable with a board recommendation for 2 software vendors with supporting justification and associated financial analysis.
