Desma is a strategic HR leader with over 14 years of international experience across industries. She partners with business leaders to design and lead the People Strategy and operational plan for organizations with employee populations ranging from 1000+ to 22,000+. Desma is passionate about ensuring that the HR agenda is designed to impact business results and partners with business leaders to drive this agenda successfully.
Desma has been a key member on several mergers & acquisitions projects involving workforce restructure and leading the HR change management agenda during periods of transition. In addition, she has also authored multiple award-winning submissions for the GCC HR Excellence Awards as well as Brandon Hall Excellence Awards.
As part of my role of Head of HR for a green field healthcare project (100 Bed hospital + satellite clinics), I led the People strategy including the design and implementation of the HR Information System (Oracle Fusion) which included the following modules: - Recruitment - On-Boarding - Performance Management - Learning Management System
A 350+ bed hospital with a 3000+ employee population had a paper-based process to design, approval and implementation of the workforce management (manpower planning and review) process which approximately 5 levels of approval. This resulted in a lengthy, cumbersome process with missing documents and no central system of record. I worked with the IT team to re-design the process to manage all approvals and a central system of record electronically through Sharepoint. This was welcomed by the business as a much more efficient way to manage the process especially with multiple physical office locations.
A luxury airline was changing its ERP from Oracle to SAP Success Factors which required all HR processes to be reviewed and re-designed for implementation in SAP Success Factors. I was assigned to the core team leading this project to review, re-design and re-map all HR processes including recruitment, on-boarding, payroll, performance management, learning & development, off-boarding etc.
