Murali is an Enterprise Solution Architect and an IT Project Manager with extensive experience in enterprise software and business transformation projects covering the manufacturing, financial services, distribution, professional services and hospitality industries. He has 20+ years of hands-on implementation experience as a lead consultant for products like Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle CC&B, SAP Business One, Salesforce, Sage X3, and Sage 300.
He is also skilled in directing all aspects of project management from inception through successful completion; creating streamlined strategies to ensure efficiency and profitability, adhering to government and corporate regulatory reporting and testing, forecasting and managing budgets, communicating with stakeholders at all levels and experienced in managing cross-cultural and distributed teams.
I was the lead consultant for an HCM project for one of the largest worldwide Sogo shosha general trading companies, a diversified corporation. As the Project Lead, I was responsible for the successful design and implementation of Sage X3 People a cloud-based HCM solution for the client across 20 countries with 5000+ employees. I worked closely with client business and internal delivery teams to drive the scope, definition, delivery management, and user adoption. My contributions as a project lead helped ensure that the solution was deployed successfully within six months and as per client expectations. My core responsibilities included project management, with a particular focus on change and risk management, and designing the automation framework for their manual processes.
The client, a global technology company, experienced an accelerated period of growth, acquiring 3 companies in just under 2 years. As the company expanded, it also inherited numerous business processes and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems that resulted in high operating costs and a decline in business outcomes. The company engaged me to help them select the solution that would standardize its business processes and integrate all the ERP systems. After assessing the company's business processes and technology operations, I recognized that a single, integrated ERP system would be an extremely costly and time-consuming solution. Instead, it would be better to build a solution model that pulled together and synchronized each acquired company's existing ERP systems. This approach integrated all processes and transactions across the company, improving compliance and governance by adopting one global standard for all business processes. As a result, the client was able to save USD 20 million and a 50% reduction in the total cost of operation and a clear view of business performance for all key stakeholders.
The client required a fully integrated online system that streamlined the entire enrolment process for students and staff alike. It would make student interactions with the University positive and pain-free, increase overall enrolments, and provide data security protection. The client's preference was for a solution that included Microsoft Dynamics CRM so that they could maximize a return on their already procured licenses. I was tasked to design their requirement specification document and help identify the right vendor to deliver the solution and oversee the project implementation. The entire Project was delivered within 16 weeks, as estimated. The new user-friendly system automated their application process as a whole, cut out duplication, and opened communication channels between applicants and university staff. Potential students could now receive tailored course advice and assistance during the application process.
